This presentation provides some insights on the likely impacts of climate change on forests and forestry in Ontario as well as a number of “forestry related concerns” that have been expressed by various groups, some of which are climate related. It is organized to address four broad questions:

1. Are we seeing changing amounts and/or patterns of forest decline and/or insect damage associated with climate change?
2. Harvest: clearcutting vs. natural disturbance; amount and patterns.
3. What is the role for intensive silviculture in forest renewal?
4. Herbicides in Forestry: trends and field observations.

The intent is to provide a venue for dialogue on these issues in the hopes that there can be shared learning.
