Welcome to the Thunder Bay Field Naturalists

A message from our President, Gerry Racey

The Thunder Bay Field Naturalists club is a non-profit organization dedicated to the study of natural history, the wise use of natural resources, the preservation of natural areas, and the understanding and protection of nature.

It is my pleasure to welcome visitors to our new Thunder Bay Field Naturalists website. TBFN is an active and resilient club founded in 1933. Since inception we have adapted to changing times leaving a lasting legacy of natural history observations, nature reserves and community involvement. The new-look of  our website reflects our commitment to improve member and non-member engagement through more efficient and convenient information exchange. The website offers a glimpse into the heart of a vibrant and active organization revealing the passion for nature shared by our members.

A warm welcome is extended to all our digital visitors. Take some time to browse through the website and learn about the stimulating activities taking place or learn about ways to become involved. Feel free to contact members of our Board of Directors. Learn about our Nature Reserves and how you may contribute to a lasting legacy of conservation. If you are not a currently a member, consider joining this community of like-minded conservationists. When safe to do so, make your next visit an in-person visit.

We encourage your comments on the new website and any suggestions to improve the user experience. I wish to extend my thanks to the many TBFN members who worked hard to bring this new website to fruition and to those who contributed great photos and other content. We thank you for your efforts.
