Field Trip – Plein Air at Hazelwood Lake Conservation Area

Join Teresa Patcheson for a Plein Air activity at the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority’s (LRCA) Hazelwood Lake Conservation Area on Saturday, August 15 at 11:00 am.

This inland lake offers hiking trails, picnicking, birding and other wildlife watching opportunities. The 2.25 km Forest Community trail loops through several different environments, with many good spots for painting close to the beginning of the trail and plenty of good views on the Lake.

Participants will meet at 11:00 am in the Hazelwood Lake Conservation Area parking lot, and then will head to the Forest Community Trail.

Hazelwood Lake Conservation Area is about 25 minutes from Thunder Bay, located at Fire #3330 Hazelwood Drive, Gorham. Take Dawson Road (Highway 102) and turn right onto Hazelwood Drive, driving to the end (tip: put Hazelwood Lake Forest Community Trail into your map app and follow directions).

The Orange Trail is an easy 2.5 km loop with gorgeous lake views. The Forest community trail runs 2.5 km through riparian forest. The Dam Trail is a 1.5 km trail along the river, leading to the dam.
