Field Trip – Muskroot Hunt in Pardee Nature Reserve *** This Outing is Now Full ***

*** Note: This outing is now full. ***

Muskroot (Adoxa moschatellina) is a mysterious, inconspicuous plant, discovered in 1974 by Claude Garton near our Pardee Nature Reserve. This may be the only place in Ontario and one of the few places in eastern North America where it has been observed, but it hasn’t been seen there in almost 20 years. We will be combing the forest floor to try to confirm that it persists on our reserve. Spring ephemerals, sugar maples, and black-throated blue warblers are also possible.

The field trip will be led by Al Harris. We will be walking off-trail through the forest on moderately difficult terrain. We should finish up at approximately 2:00 pm. Please bring boots, insect repellant, sunscreen, water, and lunch.

We will meet at the Landmark Inn parking lot at 9:00 am (leaving the lot at 9:15 am sharp) and driving down to Pardee Road (about 1 hour). Carpooling is encouraged.

This field trip is open to a maximum of 8 participants. E-mail Al at aharris@tbaytel.net to register or if you have any questions.
