Talk – Annual General Meeting (AGM) and General Meeting of Thunder Bay Field Naturalists Club

Monday, May 26 @ 7:00 PM 9:00 PM

The Annual General Meeting will include the election of Directors, and the presentation of the 2024 Financial Statements by the accountants will take place.

Following the AGM, three short program presentations of interest will be offered.

1) Mink Bay Nature Reserve – Susan Bryan, NR Chair

Sue will share maps, photos and information about TBFN’s latest new nature reserve at Mink Bay which was acquired on May 1, 2025.

    2) Addition to Caldwell Lake Nature Reserve – Susan Bryan, NR Chair

The presentation will provide information, pictures of some of the rare species and habitats that we will protect at this site.   Maps of the 737-acre property will illustrate its connection to TBFN’s existing reserve lands as well as other protected areas along this section of Lake Superior.

TBFN has a signed Agreement of Purchase and Sale set to close on November 6, 2025.   This exciting addition to TBFN’s Caldwell Lake Nature Reserve is the largest dollar purchase ever undertaken by our Club.  This presentation is a launch of a fund-raising campaign by the Club to acquire this property.  We will be asking for your help through an appeal to members coming in September.  The Club is seeking additional support from government and private Foundations.

A TBFN field trip by Zodiac boat to both of the new properties has been organized for August 16, 2025. Details to follow in the Field Trips notices shortly.

Tickets for the trip will go on sale ($50 each, cash or cheque) at the May 26, 2025 Meeting.
