Field Trip – Pictured Lake Nature Reserve Snowshoe

Saturday, February 1 @ 12:15 PM – 3:30 PM
Saturday, February 1, 2025. Alternative date would be Saturday, February 8, 2025 if there is a weather watch or a weather advisory. Communication will be forwarded if cancelled.
Please join TBFN on Saturday, February 1st for a snowshoe to Pictured Lake. People who want to carpool can meet at the Movati parking lot at 1185 Arthur St. (Please park near the coffee shop location). Meet at 12:15 pm. It will take about 15 minutes to register everyone. From there at about 12:30 pm, we will drive to the firehall at East Oliver Lake Road. There will be a p[arking lot there. Park off to the side of the lot. If you want to meet directly at the firehall, please arrive before 1 pm.
The snowshoe will be an easy to intermediate snowshoe or hike from East Oliver Lake Road, through the forest and down a moderate hill to Pictured Lake (0.5 km). From there, we will circumnavigate the lake (2 km) to view the cliffs, creek and check for animal tracks. We will return on the forest trail. The duration of the outing will be about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Bring a thermos of a warm beverage and snacks if needed.
Bring snowshoes with cleats and crampons for boots. Currently, the trail condition is snow covered based on what we have recently received.
