Field Trip – Forest Plant Walk

Saturday, July 19 @ 12:00 PM 3:00 PM

Pink Pyrola

Join Teresa Patcheson for a leisurely walk in the forest. We will be looking for interesting plants and fungi. We may see white or pink pyrola, spurred gentian, interrupted fern, oak fern, and early chanterelle mushrooms. We will also be looking for signs left by wildlife such as scrapes, woodpecker holes, and squirrel nests.

The trails are mostly easy, but there are some wet spots and stretches with rough terrain from tree roots.  There may be biting insects (ticks, mosquitoes, deer flies, etc.), so please dress accordingly with a long sleeved shirt or bug shirt, long pants, a bug net for your head, bug spray, etc.

Date and Time: Saturday, July 19, 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Location: 331 Old Mill Rd, Nolalu, P0T 2K0. There is a Canadian flag at the entrance to the property. Parking is down the driveway, past the first house and opposite the old house.

What to Bring: Good footwear that can get wet, drinks, and light rain gear if the weather calls for it. And optionally, bring your favourite guidebook, apps, cameras, and binoculars.

Note: This trip is limited to 10 participants due to the fragile forest environment. If you have any questions, or if you wish to register, please contact Teresa at tepatch@tbaytel.net.
