Here is an opportunity to visit TBFN’s Bowman Island and Paradise Island Nature Reserves on Lake Superior. Places that few people have the opportunity to see.
We will travel by charter boat from the Nipigon Marina, passing TBFN’s Nipigon River Mouth Reserve then south through the Nipigon Straits to Bowman Island. On the island, we will observe arctic-alpine plants, post-glacial raised cobble beaches and spectacular wilderness scenery. A short visit to the adjacent Paradise Island Nature Reserve is also possible.
Overnight accommodation is at Bowman Island Charters Lodge and Cabins (http://www.bowmanislandcharters.com).
Participants can expect moderately strenuous hiking and travel around the island in open motorboats. Bring a lunch for Saturday only. The other three meals are provided. More information will be sent to those that register and pay for the trip. The cost per participant is $350 per person (includes boat trip, accommodation and three meals). There is a limit of nine (9) participants based in order of the leader receiving the full payment, i.e. “first come, first served.” After payment, more information will be sent.
Payment is by cheque or cash only. There are no refunds. If a participant must cancel, they are responsible to find a substitute and arrange reimbursement from them.
