Visit the Pearson wetland by canoe. Join us as we paddle up the river to the small lake with the floating mat shoreline. We will lift over two beaver dams, listen for birds, and look for signs of otters, turtles, and waterfowl. Songbirds are plentiful along the river and we will stop for a side trip hike to the talus slope. Weather permitting and if participants are interested, we may walk from the lake across the floating mat into the black spruce forest on the north shore of the lake. Should we decide to do that, participants should be prepared for wet feet and legs. The outing would be the entire morning concluding in mid-afternoon. Bring a lunch. Both the talus slope visit and a possible walk across the floating mat represents a moderate to high level of exertion.
